The GCESC currently processes home education requests for the following school districts: Cedar Cliff, Greeneview, Bellbrook-Sugarcreek Schools, Xenia, and Yellow Springs.

In Ohio, parents interested in educating his or her child at home may do so by meeting the requirements of Ohio Law to home school. Notification that the child is being home schooled is required each year. If you plan to home school your child, please send the Home Education Notification Form, as well as the required Academic Assessment for the new school year if home education is continuing, to the Greene County Educational Service Center (GCESC). The GCESC reviews the submitted paperwork and notifies the parents and the student's school district of residence within 14 days of receipt of notification of home schooling. If requirements are met, the district superintendent releases the student from required school attendance. Please send the notification form to the GCESC for processing at least 2 weeks prior to the start of school for your district. The GCESC works closely with the school district attendance officers to coordinate information when students are not in attendance and parents have not submitted required notification. Such attendance must begin within the first week of school or within one week of the date on which the child begins to reside in the district.
