The Greene County Educational Service Center (GCESC) currently processes home education notifications for the following schools: Cedar Cliff, Greeneview, Bellbrook-Sugarcreek, Xenia and Yellow Springs.
In Ohio, parents interested in educating his/her child at home may do so by meeting the requirements of the Ohio Revised Code (ORC) 3321.042. Notification is required within five days after commencing home education, moving into a new school district, withdrawing from a public or nonpublic school, and by the thirtieth day of August each year thereafter. The child’s exemption under this section is effective immediately upon receipt of notice.
In accordance with ORC 3321.042, the district superintendent shall respond with a written acknowledgement within 14 calendar days of receipt of this notice.
