Clinical School-Based Mental Health Therapy Services

School-based Mental Health Services are embedded in the natural environment of the school buildings where clinicians can assess and provide weekly support for the emotional needs of students. Our team of clinicians is trained in a variety of approaches to treatment including trauma, client-centered, cognitive behavioral and solution-focused therapies. We serve students between the ages of three and 21 with supportive services tailored to student development and functioning levels. Services are available in district and alternative school settings.

Dawn Carl, LPCC-S

Dawn Carl, LPCC-S, is a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor with Supervisor endorsement in the State of Ohio. She received her Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Family Studies from Ohio University in 1997, and received her Master’s of Science Degree in Counseling of Exceptional Children from Wright State University in 2001. She has worked in a variety of settings including partial hospitalization, residential, outpatient, home and school-based settings.  Dawn joined the ESC in August 2014.  Currently, she is a supervisor for the School Based Mental Health Department.  Dawn is passionate about providing guidance, support and trauma-informed clinical supervision to ESC clinicians that will enhance their skills and benefit the students and families they serve throughout Greene County.

Casey Aldrich, LISW-S

Casey Aldrich, LISW-S, is a Licensed Independent Social Worker in the State of Ohio. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from the University of Dayton in 2011 and completed her Master’s Degree in Social Work at the University of Cincinnati in 2013. Casey has been employed by the Greene County ESC since August 2015. Having previously worked in Montgomery County, Casey’s experience is primarily around school-based mental health therapy. Her experience includes working with students, ages 4-18, and their families. She specializes in psychosocial assessment and diagnosis, individual, family and group therapy, consultation and crisis intervention. Casey uses techniques from a variety of treatment modalities and individualizes care to the students and families. Casey is a Mental Health Supervisor & Quality Assurance & Performance Improvement Data Base Analyst for Greene ESC Mental Health Services, across all program areas.

Courtney Borgerding, MSW, LSW

Courtney Borgerding
Courtney Borgerding, MSW, LSW, is a Licensed Social Worker in the State of Ohio. Courtney received her Bachelors of Social Work 2020 as well as her Master’s of Social Work in 2021, both from The Ohio State University. Courtney has been employed by the Greene County ESC since 2023. Courtney has several years of experience working with youth ages 5-18 in the school setting as a therapist. She specializes in psychosocial assessment and diagnosis, individual, family and group therapy, consultation and crisis intervention. Courtney uses techniques from a variety of treatment modalities and individualizes care to the students and families.

Jennifer Driver, LPCC

Jennifer Driver, LPCC, is a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor in the State of Ohio. She has worked with children and families since 2005. Jennifer began working in Xenia through Children’s Services and then worked for Juvenile Court at the Residential Treatment Centers, before shifting to Montgomery County’s South Community, Inc. to provide both school-based and partial hospitalization program services. Jennifer received her Associate’s Degree in the Mental Health Technology program at Sinclair Community College in 2006. She then received her Bachelor’s Degree in Human Development at Antioch Midwest University in 2011. Jennifer received her Master’s Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Wright State University in 2016. Jennifer is currently providing school-based services at Greene County Learning Center. She specializes in psychosocial assessment & diagnosis, individual, family & group psychotherapy, consultation and crisis intervention. She is trained in trauma-focused CBT, Seeking Safety, and ARC.

Dawn Gruber, LPCC-S

Dawn Gruber
Dawn Gruber, LPCC-S, is a Professional Clinical Counselor with Supervisor endorsement in the State of Ohio. She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Wright State University in 1990 and then completed her Master’s Degree in Mental Health Counseling at Wright State University in 1992. Dawn has been working at the Greene ESC since 1999. Dawn has been a therapist in the mental health field since 1992. Her experiences have all been school-based services including crisis intervention, outpatient for children & adolescents and supervision. Locally she has worked at South Community, Inc. prior to joining the staff at the GCESC. She specializes in psychosocial assessment & diagnosis, individual, family & group psychotherapy, consultation and crisis intervention. Dawn utilizes various therapeutic techniques in her practice and is passionate about the people she serves.  Dawn has completed training in Evidenced Based Practices including Conscious Discipline, Seeking Safety and Motivational Interviewing.

Jaime Hilling, LISW

Jaime Hilling, LISW, is a Licensed Independent Social Worker in the State of Ohio. She received her Bachelor’s Degree from Wright State University in 2000 and completed her Master’s Degree in Social Work from The Ohio State University in 2010. Jaime also has a certification as a School Social Worker through the Ohio Department of Education. Jaime has worked with children and families for over 20 years, working in foster care from 2000 to 2010 and in the educational setting since 2010. She specializes in psychosocial assessment and diagnosis, crisis intervention, individual, family, and group therapy. Jaime has a strengths based and client centered approach. She uses cognitive behavioral therapy techniques and trauma focused care. Jaime completed training in Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy in 2022. She currently provides services to students at both Fairborn Primary and Fairborn Intermediate.

Jennifer Instine, MSW, LSW, is a Licensed Social Worker in the State of Ohio. She earned her Bachelor’s in Social Work in 2021 and her Master’s in Social Work in 2022, both from Wright State University. Jennifer has been employed through the Greene County ESC since 2023. Jen has previous experience working in a youth homeless shelter, school based social work, and community outpatient therapy. She specializes in psychosocial assessment and diagnosis, individual, family, and group therapy. Jennifer utilizes a variety of different treatment modalities and individualizes care based on children and family needs.

Michele Kattine, MSW, LSW, is a Licensed Social Worker in the State of Ohio since 2019. She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work from Missouri Southern State University in 2019, and received her Master’s Degree in Social Work from Campbellsville University in 2021. Michele has worked in a variety of social work settings including child welfare, substance abuse, medical and re-entry. She specializes in psychosocial assessment & diagnosis, individual, family & group psychotherapy, consultation and crisis intervention. Michele has been with the ESC serving students in Greene County since 2022.

Chris Knotts, MRC, LSW

Chris Knotts, MRC, LSW, is a Licensed Social Worker in the State of Ohio. He received his Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Wittenberg University in 1978, and his Master’s Degree in Rehab Counseling from Wright State University in 1993. He has worked with adolescents and young adults for the past thirty years in the schools and court system. Chris has been with the ESC since 2008. Chris is certified as a sex offender therapist for adolescents through the University of Louisville, and has also worked with drug and alcohol, post-traumatic stress disorder, grief, and family problems. He uses eclectic approaches, reality therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, relation technique training, building insight and reframing techniques.

Julie Mitchell, LPCC-S, LSW, is a Licensed Social Worker and a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor with a Supervisor endorsement in the State of Ohio. She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work from Wright State University in 1992, and received her Master’s Degree in Social Agency Counseling from the University of Dayton in 1997. Julie has been working in the mental health field for over twenty years. She specializes in psychosocial assessment & diagnosis, individual, family & group psychotherapy, consultation and crisis intervention. Julie has been with the ESC serving students in various locations since 1999.

Rachel Mitchell, LISW-S

Rachel Mitchell, LISW-S, is a Licensed Independent Social Worker in the State of Ohio. She graduated from Evangel University in 2003 with a Bachelor of Social Work and the University of Cincinnati in 2005 with a Master of Social Work. Rachel has worked with children and adults since 2003and has been with the ESC since January 2016. Rachel has experience in several settings including residential treatment, in-home early intervention and case management services, crisis intervention, community mental health, and private practice. Rachel utilizes a variety of therapeutic techniques depending on the needs of the individual client and has extensive training in attachment and play therapy. Rachel has completed additional certifications for Early Childhood Mental Health Consultation and Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and trainings in Foundations of Evidence-Based Strategies for Autism: Toddler through Transition Age, Seeking Safety and Motivational Interviewing.

Allison Mundy

Allison Mundy, MSW, LSW, is a Licensed Social Worker in the State of Ohio. She completed a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, with a minor in Early Childhood Education, from Miami University in 2000. She earned a Master’s Degree in Social Work from the University of Cincinnati, with a concentration in Children and Families, in 2004. She has previously worked in the areas of domestic violence, family preservation, and foster care and adoption. Allison joined the ESC team in 2023. She specializes in psychosocial assessment & diagnosis, individual, family and group therapy. Allison individualizes care to serve children and families from a client-centered and strengths-based perspective.

Anke Pietsch, MSW, LSW

Anke Pietsch, MSW, LSW, is a Licensed Social Worker in the State of Ohio and is also licensed by ODE as a School Social Worker. She received her Undergraduate Degree in Social Work in Germany and completed her Master’s Degree in Social Work at the Ohio State University with an emphasis on Children and Adolescents. Anke has worked many years with children and youth with severe mental health challenges as a school social worker and prevention specialist and is experienced in trauma-informed care, prevention, social emotional and equine assisted learning. Anke uses various client-centered therapeutic techniques including art, and play therapy techniques to meet the individual needs of children and families to improve outcomes. Anke joined the Greene County ESC in 2023.

Peggy Roesser
Peggy Roesser, MS, LSW, is a Licensed Social Worker in the State of Ohio. She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from The Ohio State University in 1992 and then completed her Master’s Degree in Education/Community Counseling from the University of Dayton in 1996. Peggy has been working at the Greene ESC since 2003. She is currently working full-time at the Greene County Learning Center. Peggy has over 30 years of experience in the mental health field. Her experiences are varied and include residential treatment, home based therapy, crisis intervention, outpatient for children, families & adolescents and adult inpatient. Locally she has worked at DayMont West, Franciscan Medical Center, Crisis Care, and Catholic Social Services. She specializes in trauma informed psychosocial assessment & diagnosis, individual, family & group psychotherapy, consultation and crisis intervention. Peggy utilizes various therapeutic techniques in her practice and is passionate about the people she serves.

Amy Selvage, LISW

Amy Selvage, LISW, joined our Mental Health team in 2023. She graduated from Case Western University with her Master’s Degree is Social Science Administration Services in 2014 and became licensed to practice independently in 2018. Amy has worked in the field of social work for over 18 years and has specialized training in Play Therapy and Dyadic Developmental Therapy. Amy has extensive experience working with children in out of home placement; kinship care, foster care and adoption. Amy’s work experience has been at Oesterlen Services for Youth and TCN Behavioral Health. Her job functions include psychosocial assessment, individual & family therapy, consultation and crisis intervention. Amy is passionate about working with children, youth and families to build upon their strengths and assist difficulties they may have.

Audrey Shirk, MSW, LSW

Audrey Shirk, MSW, LSW, is a Licensed Social Worker in the State of Ohio. She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work from Mount Vernon Nazarene University in 2013 and her Master’s Degree from Asbury University in 2015. Audrey has been working at the Greene County ESC since 2020. Prior to joining the ESC, Audrey worked in early childhood settings providing care to children and families. She is currently working at Beavercreek Preschool Center and Greeneview Elementary. Audrey is uniquely cross-trained as an Early Childhood Mental Health Consultant and School-based Mental Health Therapist, allowing us to reach children as young as 3 with clinical therapy services. Audrey incorporates play therapy techniques into her practice as well as psychosocial assessment and diagnosis, individual therapy and consultation.

Cassie Svisco, MS, LPC, is a Licensed Professional Counselor in the State of Ohio. Laura Taylor, MSW, LISW-S, is a Licensed Independent Social Worker in the State of Ohio. She has worked in the social work field for over 30 years including as a crisis therapist in the emergency room of Dayton’s Good Samaritan Hospital and as a case manager and supervising therapist at Eastway Lifeskills Center. Laura completed her Master’s Degree in Social Work from the University of Cincinnati in 1992 and has been with the ESC since 2000. Her job functions include psychosocial assessment & diagnosis, individual, family & group psychotherapy, consultation and crisis intervention. Laura enjoys working with and learning from students of all ages with their variety of interests and strengths.

Heidi Wade, LPCC, is a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor in the State of Ohio. She received her Bachelors in Psychology from Wright State University in 2009 and her Master’s Degree in General Clinical Mental Health Counseling from The University of Dayton in 2013.  She has worked with young children providing mental health support and consultation for the last 10 years in outpatient, group, partial hospitalization, and school settings. She joined the ESC in February of 2023. She specializes in psychosocial assessment and diagnosis, crisis intervention, individual, family, and group therapy. Jaime has a strengths based and client centered approach. She uses cognitive behavioral therapy techniques and trauma focused care.

Bethany Finkbeiner

Bethany Finkbeiner is the Billing Manager and Administrative Assistant for the ESC’s Mental Health Services. She has been with the ESC since 2004 and takes an active role in the everyday running of the Mental Health program, Electronic Medical Record support, and the Learning Center staff needs.

Wendy Wooten

Wendy Wooten is the Records Control Officer and Administrative Assistant for the ESC’s Mental Health Services. She has been with the ESC since 1999 and takes an active role in the everyday running of the program, specifically supporting the School-Based Therapists providing services in district buildings.

Services are aimed at reducing students’ non-academic barriers to education by providing a full range of student-focused services including assessment, individual counseling, consultation, and group and family therapies.  Services are provided to students in the natural school environment, enabling them to achieve their greatest potential. The Learning Center’s objective is to help students solve social, emotional, and/or academic problems which seriously interfere with their progress in school or in their personal development. Some of the services provided are:

  • Diagnostic assessment
  • Individual, family & group therapy
  • Community support
  • Consultation
  • Education

Students are referred to the School Based Mental Health Services by the student’s home school district. Persons served by the Mental Health Services present with a variety of concerns, including:

  • Emotional distress
  • Social skill problems
  • Academic failure
  • Family difficulties
  • Attendance problems
  • Disciplinary action
  • Experience of a loss or trauma
