Ohio Model Curriculum Meetings Scheduled
Model Curriculum Teacher Team Meetings Scheduled for Region 10 ODE will hold regional teacher team meetings statewide related to Ohio’s Model Curriculum in summer 2010 for preK through high school teachers. The development of the Model Curriculum is Phase II in refining Ohio’s Comprehensive Educational System. Phase I will be complete in June when the State Board of Education is expected to adopt the Common Core State Standards in English language arts and mathematics, as well as the revisions to Ohio’s academic content standards in science and social studies. The Model Curriculum will be a Web-based tool for educators that will include multiple components providing instructional, curricular and assessment guidance and support. This summer, teachers will be given the opportunity to work collaboratively in teams to suggest research-based instructional strategies and resources for the Model Curriculum.
The link below provides an overview of the meetings planned within Region 10. Each meeting has an event name that includes a content area as well as a grade level or grade band for preK through grade 8 teachers and course names for high school teachers. ODE asks that teachers register for their meeting of choice through STARS, which is accessible through the SAFE link on any ODE Web page at education.ohio.gov.
Check out the ODE Web pages to read about Ohio's academic content standards and other information that will assist in preparing for the teacher team meetings.
