Personnel/Special Ed Make Summer Plans

Personnel/Special Ed Make Summer Plans

What do you do all summer?

Its that time of year when many ESC staff members go away for the summer and the main office continues to keep pace with the many duties that need to be completed before school opens. Everyone says, “Oh you must not have much to do.” Well, let’s look at what the ESC Personnel/Special Education staff does while others are vacationing.

Hiring seems to be a never-ending event. Posting for positions, reviewing resumes, scheduling interviews, coordinating with supervisors, and reviewing the candidates. Once the new hires are selected, contracts are written, the Board needs to approve and then we process their paperwork and prepare for New Employee Orientation. It takes more than one person to work through this process.

Opening Day is another BIG event with many hands putting it all together. Scheduling the agenda, planning the food, coordinating the packets and preparing all the handouts. The administrative assistants are the key players in this event and we couldn’t do it without them. So if you remember on Opening Day, give them a BIG thank you!

Did I mention that year round schools start the end of July?  Well, with school start up we need packets sent out, EMIS forms entered, parent phone calls answered and again more paperwork.

So the next time you see summer staff, just remember we are working to prepare for the new school year.
