Curriculum and Assessment Web Site a Big Hit with Educators

The curriculum team consisting of Ann Aaronson, Tina Saunders and Wendy Wooten have been busy updating the Curriculum and Assessment pages and viewers have taken notice.  The curriculum page has had over 6,300 hits within the last month.  What is the attraction for the sudden surge onto our page? Since the end of July we have completed the "Benchmark Assessment Tally."  This is simply a resource for educators to identify how many assessment questions have been assigned to each benchmark.  To access the Benchmark Assessment Tally go to http://www.greeneesc.org/curriculum-and-assessment/assessment-tally.html.

In addition we have feverishly been working on our "Extended Item Analysis." This is an extensive process where we look at each individual released assessment question and put all of the information pertaining to the question in chart form. For each released assessment question, we insert the following: a picture of the question, the answer, how the students across Ohio responded to the question, the benchmark, the grade level and indicator.  We continue the process by identifying vocabulary words in the question, universal qualifiers, stated thinking process, implied thinking processes, information on what the students need to know to understand the concept assessed and finally a link to a best practice or promising practice lesson plan for that particular assessment question.  Please realize that only 40% of the questions are released each year in all Ohio Achievement Tests.  Currently we have the science, social studies, and all of the math with exception of the OGT completed and up on the web. As new content is completed, it will be added to the respective pages.  We have made a decision not to include the reading and writing item analysis this year.  To access the Item Analysis for this past testing year go to http://www.greeneesc.org/curriculum-and-assessment/item-analysis.html. 

Currently we are working on updating the "Questions by Benchmark."  Soon we will have the math section completed and will continue on other content areas.
