Transitional Entry Year Will Require Re-training for MentorsRon Anderson, Ed.D.A transitional entry year program will be in place this school year and next.”
Relevant LinksEntry Year teachers will no longer take the Praxis III assessment in order to be eligible fo their first Five Year License. As we transition into the new Four Year Residency Program, beginning teachers will need only the signatures of their mentor and their superintendent in order to obtain their Five Year License. Mentors can sign licenses only if they are on the list of Certified ODE Mentors. In order to become certified, mentors must attend a two-day training session.
Dr. Jim Rowley, our regional state-wide trainer, will conduct a training session for mentors at the Greene County ESC on November 16-17 from 8:30 until 3:30 each day. All mentors who are working with beginning teachers this year will need to attend this training, even if they have had Pathwise or Ohio First training in the past. Participants must register on the ODE STARS website in order to attend. An account and password are required in order to register on the STARS site, so teachers who are new to STARS will need to create an account. There is a $50 registration fee and each district will need to pay for subs. For more information about the Entry Year Program, contact Ron Anderson at the Greene ESC: randerson@greeneesc.org or by calling 767-1303 extension 113 or toll free: 1-888-9Greene.
