(based upon TEACCH, Treatment and Education of Autistic and related Communication-handicapped Children)

8:30 am—3:30 pm (one hour lunch on your own)

 

Description: This course will identify the academic, social, communication, and behavioral issues that can occur with students on

the autism spectrum and it will address the elements and range of structure needed to support these students’ success. It will

provide teachers and other support personnel the knowledge and tools to create a structured environment for these students that

meshes with their current setting. The presenters will highlight problem-solving techniques and materials that will help.

 

 

Presenters: Susan Whidden, Speech Pathologist, Miami County Educational Service Center, and Kim Roeser, Teacher, Kettering

City Schools present from their experience and extensive training at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
